Full Membership

Full membership is open to anyone who is either working for, or currently seeking employment in Probation, Cafcass or Hestia Housing. Subscriptions are usually paid via members' salaries unless alternative arrangements are made, such as paying in advance by cheque.

Full membership entitles you to the following:

  • Local representation if you have any problems with your employment
  • National representation should local representation fail to provide a satisfactory resolution
  • Voting rights in relation to all aspects of Napo's business including suggested changes to terms & conditions of employment nationally negotiated
  • Full members are welcome at all branch meetings and national Napo meetings such as AGM
  • Free copies of Napo News (8 issues per year)
  • Free copies of the Probation Journal (Probation) or Family Court Journal (Cafcass)
  • All additional benefits are available to full members (more information on the membership benefits page)
  • Free membership whilst taking maternity, paternity or adoption leave
  • Free membership whilst on unpaid long term sick leave
  • Full members are eligible for election as an Officer of Napo, and Officer of a branch, a branch NEC Representative or to any other committee negotiating salaries or conditions of service
  • Tax relief on your subscriptions as Napo is a Professional Association

In order to join as a full member you will need to complete an application form and a salary mandate form (assuming you will be paying monthly via your salary). You will need to obtain these from your local membership secretary. Because membership secretaries can change throughout the year you will need to either call or email the membership department at Napo to find out who your local contact is. You can contact us on 020 7223 4887 or via membership@napo.org.uk
