I couldn't open the link but Libertarianism is a powerful undercuurent in the UK and US. The Libertarian Alliance has many 'mainstream' academics, political think tanks and business figures openly associated with it. Loony anti-european bigots they may be but their *ideas* are influencial. Best ignored? Perhaps but I would encourage people to read one of their online publications such as 'There is no such thing as Society and if there ever was there shouldn't have been.' (google it, if you're ineterested). Essentially self realisation is the one and only goal of human existance and oppression, exploitation, social justice? Just a ridiculous guilt trip smoke screen to excuse state intervention. Their view is that government should be so small and insignificant that it doesn't matter where it is or what it does. Their mantra is 'freedom' and wasn't that the buzzword of the noughties with it's 'war on terror'. They have stated that they have signficant support within the conservative party. I don't expect anyone else to agree but I am utterly opposed to this world view. It flushes away two centuries of social science and replaces it with simplistic heart warming boll**ks that would not only magnify the power of the rich, white, hetereosexual, able-bodied men of this world (as if they needed it) but would place all responsibility at the feet of the disadvantaged, the marginalised and the powerless. Which brings us neatly back to the Daily Mail. |

justa, Serious politics is about ideas not personalities. The Libertarian Party is a ramshackle mixture of loony anti European bigots... best ignored. |

Hi Pipling. I was not aware that I was always targeting Labour politicians. I just have a special hatred for them as they have been on watch on the SS Great Britain when we hit (numerous) icebergs. When 'call me Dave' Cameroids get's in, I'll pick on him. As for The Mail, I agree, I would not wipe my dogs' ar*e with this paper but it was the only one with a picture of Lord Voldermont. Would have spoilt the punchline if there was no picture On the subject of politics, does anyone have anything good to say about these folks? Their manifesto says everything without saying anything. If you get my drift. http://lpuk.org/pages/manifesto.php |

Justa You always target Labour politicians when there are so many obvious candidates on the opposition benches as well. Any reason for that? Also your source is the Daily Mail????!!! At least 'The Boy's' sources have their heart in the right place....but no defence can be given for this despicable rag! |

Or even his shame? Still, this is from a Town that apparently hung a monkey thinking it was a Frenchman. An easy mistake, it had stolen all of the fish. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1227923/Labours-pink-paper-fix-gives-Man dy-freedom-Hartlepool.html You just would not tire of punching that face would you. |
