Computer Skills for All

Award in IT User Skills (ITQ) Level 1 and 2

A new FREE Course is now being offered at our Derby base in our well equipped IT Suite.

The course is available to members and non members.

The course will develop your skills in

  • Word Processing,
  • Spreadsheet
  • Presentation software.

Assessment will be within each of the modules covered.

Tutor support and access to computers in the learning centre is available to all (course FREE during April - June only).

Certificate in Advice and Guidance - Level 3

The Centre is now offering this *FREE course (subject to eligibility) open to union members and non-members.

 

Who should attend?

The qualification is designed to reflect the activities and responsibilities of candidates who are guidance practitioners working in either careers guidance, educational guidance or adult guidance. Candidates will work with individual clients
in each case, but with supervision from a line manager.

Course objectives.

The objective of this qualification is to provide a statement of competence that testifies to the ability of candidates to work with practitioners and clients to achieve clients’ objectives. It recognises that employment in the advice and guidance sectors involves a diverse range of functions, tasks and activities that are constantly developing in the light of changing client needs.

Course overviews.

To achieve a full level 3 NVQ Certificate in Advice and Guidance, candidates must achieve 21 credits made up of four mandatory units totalling 12 credits and three optional units totalling 9 credits

Mandatory units


1 Establish communication with clients for advice and guidance


2 Support clients to make use of the advice and guidance


3 Review own contribution to the service


4 Understand the importance of legislation and procedures


There is a choice of 15 optional units e.g.

  • Develop interactions with advice and guidance clients
  • Interact with clients using a range of media
  • Assist, advise and guide clients to decide on a course of action
  • Prepare clients through advice and guidance for the implementation of a course of action
  • Assist clients through advice and guidance to review their achievement of a course of action
