Probation IT systems failures
Well here it is!
Over the past five weeks Napo has been conducting this research among members in branches around the country.
We want to identify the prevalence and degree of IT problems which we know you experience daily as you try to carry out the basic tasks of assessing and reviewing your cases and recording your work with them. Also, as you communicate with colleagues and managers and with other agencies, about your work.
This exercise began after we submitted information from an earlier, more localised trawl to NOMS ICT - who said they had no idea that problems were so frequent or so intense.
I have anonymised the material that members have sent in and have passed the detail on to the new ICT director at NOMS. He has said that he is most concerned to improve the situation for staff; we will be meeting with him in September to find out what NOMS are doing to make the IT work for you.

Your views and information are important. We need a mass of detail to get Steria to acknowledge that these incidents are much, much more than the exception - and for NOMS to prioritise accessible, efficient IT for all users.
