The safety of workers is a very important daily priority, but the Covid Pandemic and the appalling statistics of infections and deaths across the UK (especially among the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities) has demonstrated just how unprepared this Government were, and why we need an independent public enquiry into the handling of the crisis.
Next Wednesday 28th April is International Workers Memorial Day. This is an opportunity to remember all of those workers across the world who have sadly been lost to Covid and, let us not forget, the unacceptable numbers of deaths through accidents at the workplace. We should also reflect on the vital role that trade unions have played in the struggle against the Virus. .
Here is how you can get involved:

and take an individual or group photograph after the minutes silence and send them to editorial@napo.org.uk and promote these on Social Media via #IWMD21 and #NapoNews. Please ensure that you do not identify your workplace or your name in any photographs that may appear on social media platforms and remember any groups must be clearly socially distanced (camera angles can cause issues).

IWMD 2021: International Workers’ Memorial Day is Wednesday 28 April. What you need to know:

- Make a plan to mark the one minute silence at midday (the TUC will be livestreaming this, details tbc)
- Add your events to the map
- Download shareable graphics
- Submit a tribute to a worker who has died
- Register for the national event, with Frances O’Grady , Sharan Burrows from the ITUC and other speakers
- Support the call for a comprehensive public inquiry into the pandemic in your press work and socials that day
