Vicarious Trauma – women who work with women

Following on from the recent Women in Napo seminar in March with Becky Shepherd, Lecturer at London Southbank University, on vicarious trauma – when the negative impact of working with a traumatised client group becomes overwhelming – Becky discussed her research findings into the gendered impact of vicarious trauma on women who supervise women. This research was focused on probation but we believe it is also of interest to Family Court Section women members.

We have a new date for 4th July (initial May date had to be postponed) with Becky (with a follow-up session as well as at Napo’s AGM) for women practitioners on recognising and dealing with vicarious trauma. The aim is to provide a supportive space for women to talk about their experiences and to learn more on this topic, including what to do if you think you may be experiencing vicarious trauma, and where to go for support.

We will send out registration details very soon!
