We have been advised that the General Federation of Trade Unions is in a position to support and part-fund two delegates for the 2024 Young Trade Unionists’ May Day Brigade to Cuba.

Dates: Sunday 21 April – Friday 3 May 2024

The May Day Brigade provides a unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the Cuban people in their iconic May Day celebrations. It also provides young members the opportunity to meet and exchange with trade unionists and activists from all over the UK, Ireland and across the world.

The brigade will feature a full programme of activities including a special invitation to take part in Havana’s May Day celebrations, an invitation to participate in the International Solidarity with Cuba conference at Havana’s Convention Palace, meetings with Cuban trade unionists, women’s organisations and community groups, solidarity agricultural work, and much more.

GFTU will meet 50% of the cost of places for two young member delegates from affiliated trade unions. The other 50% (£1000) must be met by any Napo member who may be successful in the nomination process.

As Delegates must be approved by their union, any interested members are asked to advise the General Secretary ilawrence@napo.org.uk of their interest at the earliest opportunity and before 22nd January after which a nomination form will need completion and be submitted to the GFTU.
