Members will have seen yesterday's pay announcement on the intranet about the Prison Service Pay Review Body and the publication of the Civil Service Pay Remit Guidance and, in case needed, we wanted to make clear the current position for staff subject to Probation Service terms and conditions.
The recommendations of the Prison Service Pay Review Body do not apply to Probation Service staff who are subject to different terms and conditions as well as a separate pay process.
Probation Service pay is informed by the Civil Service Pay Remit Guidance, but importantly then subject to negotiations between the employer and Napo, alongside the other recognised trade unions. These negotiations are ongoing at this point. When a final offer has been arrived at it will, after being discussed by members of our Probation Negotiating Committee to consider whether to recommend it to members or not, be put to a ballot of Napo's Probation members. Further information will be shared with members when it is appropriate to do so depending on the status of the negotiations. These will be taking place throughout June.
Napo continues to press the case for a decent pay deal at every available opportunity, most importantly with the employer but also with the media, our friends in Parliament and the wider trade union movement. We do not believe we have left anyone in any doubt as to the anger which members will have should our reasonable demands for a fair pay award not be met given the vital work we have done, and will continue to do, in the criminal justice system and for our communities.
