The work done by Carole Doherty to coordinate our newly formed SPO Forum has helped us to collate information about the scale of the workload issues that our SPO members face. We have issued workload and stress advice to members which includes advice for manager members. We have also been made aware by London Branch reps and members about the designation of some red sites due to the appalling staffing issues. Members are concerned about the implications of abandoning quality standards for all but the highest risk clients and the risk to them should an SFO happen. Ian Lawrence has requested an urgent meeting with the Chief Probation Officer Sonia Flynn to raise these issues and ensure that where quality standards are abandoned our members are not held responsible for the organisational failings that led to the staffing issues.
