Napo members have turned out in big numbers to have their say in the indicative ballot on the employers pay offer which closes at 12:00 noon on Friday. We await the full result ahead of a scheduled meeting of Napo’s Probation Negotiating Committee (PNC).
Over the course of the ballot Napo has received nearly 200 applications from new members building on the increase that we have seen since our industrial action ballot last summer. This illustrates how staff working in Probation have been attracted by our efforts to try and secure a revised pay offer and our campaigning work in many other important areas.
A big thanks to you
The engagement with our members during the balloting period has been highly successful. We have seen large attendances at all-members meetings and those organised by Napo branches which is testimony to your commitment to the union and the desire to be involved in healthy debate. We have also received highly positive feedback for the quality of our various communications by way of mail outs and social media postings as well as the series of ‘Napo Podcasts’ which have proved to be especially popular with our members.
Our heartfelt thanks to our members and activists who have played a part in the campaign so far, which is about more than just this pay offer, but how you see the future of the Probation Service.
What next?
At their meeting on Friday the PNC will consider the outcome of the ballot and determine the next steps depending on the result. We also await the outcome of the indicative ballots being run by our sister unions UNISON and GMB.
If all unions have voted to accept the offer, we will obviously want to try and secure the earliest possible pay out of backpay.
In the event that a majority vote among the three unions rejects the pay offer, then that puts the onus on the employer to engage urgently with us where we will obviously be seeking a revised offer.
More news on all of this will follow at the earliest opportunity.
It’s not too late to vote!
It’s still not too late for new members and re-joiners to vote. Join Napo here before 10am on Thursday 26th February to ensure you receive your ballot email from Civica Election Services on Thursday afternoon
