Dear member,

Cafcass pay offer received

After months of delay during in which the Ministry of Justice and Treasury have been considering the outcome of the business case for a competitive pay award for Cafcass employees, the unions have now received the attached pay offer from the employer.

It is a predictably depressing response to our original pay claim and merely equates to a 2.51% increase to Cafcass pay scales and London Weighting.

Next steps

As you would expect the employer has been told that this is an insulting offer from Government which will cause serious anger to their staff. Yet again, the employer has been given no latitude by Government to negotiate an increase in the available pay envelope. Neither does it take account of the recent pay award for Social Workers in Local Authorities.

Napo's Family Court Section’s Negotiating Committee and UNISON’s CAFCASS Sector Committee meet next week and a joint meeting will also be taking place between Napo and UNISON negotiators to agree a consultative ballot timetable and to consider plans for a joint meeting for our respective members.

More news will follow over the coming days.
